The Great Artesian Basin is being bled dry for corporate greed. BHP is sucking out millions of litres a day for Olympic Dam while the ancient mound springs of Arabana Country collapse into dust. This is not responsible management. It is environmental vandalism dressed up as business.
Traditional Owners are watching their spiritual and cultural lifeblood disappear while BHP offers vague promises about stopping sometime in the mid 2030s. That is not a plan. It is a stalling tactic.
We need a real, enforceable agreement that restores Country and protects what remains. If we fail, what is lost is not just water but heritage and the future itself.
