It's amazing looking at https://haminfo.tetranz.com/map and seeing how many licensed #hamradio operators live near me. But when I click through their call signs on QRZ, it seems that most of them are minimally active, at least when using "lookup" numbers as a proxy for activity

I was using this map to look for #hamradio operators near me in good locations to put up an #AREDN node, and then reaching out to them to see if they wanted to mess around with it. I triangulated with #APRS activity to see who might be active in similar stuff, looked at QRZ pages (and lookups). So far I've emailed the person. Even though this is the density of operators near me:
@bud_t Interesting. I wonder how many of those are RF vs. endpoint connects. How does that map compare to the http://worldmap.arednmesh.org map?
@lckrohjr yeah it doesn't compare at all. There are no AREDN nodes besides mine in that same map area. I'm looking for operators in the map area who might be interested in hosting an rf node
