It's telling when invisible human workers whose job it is to proof 'AI' output, place no trust in it themselves.

One worker for Google was tasked to find the limits of the LLM software's historical breadth:

“I asked it about the history of the Palestinian people, and it wouldn’t give me an answer no matter how I rephrased the question"

And yet the same query for Israel was profuse with detail.

"We reported it, but nobody seemed to care at Google.”

@JulianOliver I notice the slop with auto-generated captions. English is full of homonyms, and AI can’t figure out which is the correct spelling to use, so the head of HHS comes out as “Gnome”—I hope no one ever corrects that one. (her name also gets spelled as “Nome”, which reflects poorly on an Alaskan city…..)

@JulianOliver I live in England, and I also find it hard to find a properly critical account online of England's interference in the area as far back as 1948, let alone further back than that.

I don't want the Ministry Of Truth editing the WWW. I trust them about as far as I can throw them.

When I ask a local Gemma3 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemma_%28language_model%29) about the Palestinians, I get a detailed history of the from all sides contested land Palestine.

If I push for details about the genuine origin, culture and history of the people itself, Gemma3 apologises and gives me a lot of details. I didn't check this for validity!

As Gemma3 is derived from Google Gemini, it's surprising that (the very limited) #Gemma3 has so much to say about Palestinians compared to (as reported) #Gemini.
