Let your beauty not be external – the braiding of hair and wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes – but the inner person of the heart, the lasting beauty of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in God's sight (1 Peter 3:3-4).

#Paul and #Peter had concern regarding #immodesty among women.

Yet they did not speak regarding a lack of clothing, which was not a concern in Greco-Roman society.

Instead, their concern involved displaying #wealth or the aspiration thereto in what women were wearing.

In a sad and ironic inversion, far too many Christians today demand and expect people to wear their best and finest to the #assembly, something which Paul and Peter would condemn and censure as immodesty.
How has Christian witness regarding immodesty become so distorted and inverted?
