FOSS is a vehicle to get out of a local maxima and into a better one.

We have transistors and motors and (now) an understanding of ecology (and in particular soil ecology) so we no longer have to work.

Or rather the "work" to do now is to "Star Trek" up the place!

I gather most folks are exhausted and under-paid, but are they ready to walk away?

@jelle As time goes on it only gets cheaper and easier. Solar panels are becoming ubiquitous, for example.
