Takako 🐀
Tall goldenrod is called seitaka-awadachi-sou (セイタカアワダチソウ) in Japanese. It literally means “tall frothing plant.” I’ve wondered about the name for a while until it dawned on me a few years ago while hiking, that when they go to seed, they look like they’re bubbling up frothy foam at the top of the spears. Duh 😂🌾✨
