If you said, "Mugsy is spending", it would suggest I was using my own money. 🤔
@MugsysRapSheet I suspect a lot of married couples would tell you that the spouse spending the money was often spending money the other spouse has earned. The Latin root of the word "spend" has to do with dispensing, handing out, giving out. People often hand out and dispense money that is not their own money.
