Monster Bluey's spider home comparison.
The tree stump is (pretty sure) A Bluey's Funnelweb. The trip lines around the hole are diagnostic
The Hobbit house in the grass is a Bluey's Trapdoor spider. WAY less deadly than the Funnelweb.
I saw the Trapdoor wandering around the other night and my mitochondria went "nope". I reckon we've been scared of spiders like that for about a billion years.
Found a male Blueys Funnelweb in the pool filter on the weekend

@evcricket

Eek!

My termite lady (a woman who gets rid of termites, not a woman somehow constructed from living termites) stepped back very quickly after opening a termite bait station. Fresh nest! She didn't see it, but put a shitload of funnelweb killer into that station. Next visit, it housed an ex-funnelweb...

The funnelweb station is on a path I walk over most days. Rarely while wearing shoes.

@thefathippy I find them deeply frightening animals to look at. They just have all the little aspects that make something seem dangerous; black, hairy, sharp bits, 8 legs etc
