Today I learned that my colleagues refer to the method I discovered for easily inserting a temperature probe into compost as "Jules's wiggly worm trick", and while I suppose I always wanted a scientific method named after me I wish it hadn't been this one
@afewbugs also known as the Julesie wiggle.
@econads thanks I hate it 😂

@afewbugs you're extremely welcome, Wiggley Jules.

Also please share the method, this is something I also will need to do again when I turn the compost and get my thermometer back. Does it just involve randomly wiggling the end until it goes in? (I'm so very sorry, that sounds really dirty)

@econads It does yes 😂 Our temperature probe is basically a rigid bit on the end of a cable, but the cable only has so much flex in it so if you hold it close enough to the rigid bit you can push it in as though it were rigid then slide your hand back a little way and do it again and there is absolutely no non dirty sounding way of describing any of this is there
@afewbugs well at least you gave me a good laugh. I think this doesn't apply to my thermometer which is entirely rigid (oh my God)
You know what, I'm just going to lean into it. "If you know what I mean, nudge nudge wink wink"
We are already lost.

@afewbugs @econads

This thread gave me a good chuckle, there’s nothing the right inflection can’t make dirty…

@econads @afewbugs honestly, I'm surprised how could anyone expect the conversation *not* to get dirty when two people are talking seriously about ...compost. Isn't that the end goal here?
