@kde oh 3D... Thought that garbage died for good a decade ago... Guess it just needs some "AI" to be great or whatever. The Hardware looks useful.
Edit: of course there's no price for it and it releases when both ram and storage prices are exploding...
@TheOneDoc maybe 3D/VR isnt The Next Big Thing™, but it is still useful & fun technology. Why not let it exist?
Not everything overhyped is bad. Some things really have applications, just not *that* much
@steamos this is the year of the Linux desktop
yes it is and she's so beautiful and I love her so much
@kde That’s huge! Finally getting a PC with Linux pre-installed. And from a giant company.
Hope we see Linux getting more recognition after this release. Love seeing Valve put effort to Linux!
oh wow they're doing foveated streaming, freaking brilliant 😍

Welcome back, Steam Machines.

Whether or not I buy the steam frames is honestly dependent on how well it does AR. If at all.
I just looked it up and apparently it’s only monochrome so idk
@kde That's all nice and well, but the real news here is that there'll be a new steam controller 🙂!
@kde since nobody else has said it, will 2026 truly be the year of the Linux Desktop?
Between Valve pushing hard with great hardware running Linux (and brilliant compatibility), windows 10 having gone EOL last month (and folks doing one year of extended updates having that expire during '26) the tides may in fact be turning
@kde Garbage with some Linux garbage installed, making it useless and against any normal everyday user.
Hard pass unless you're a collectionist.
