For centuries, Irish people were forced to flee poverty, hunger and persecution, and seek sanctuary around the world. Those places of refuge, however harsh some of them were, are why we now have a huge Irish diaspora rather than millions more of the #massgraves which scar Ireland's landscape.
This century, a newly wealthy #Ireland has at last been able to return the favour. At last, Irish people have the privilege of welcoming refugees instead of becoming #refugees.
