My Highlight of 2025 - A Presidential farewell like no other ..... it's significance and the story of how it happened

Anna Pringle chuckled down the phone line - she'd heard my mad ideas so many times before. "We're going to give President Higgins a send off to beat all sends offs" I told my CEO even if I wasn't quite sure how it was going to come about.

President #MichaelDHiggins & Sabina left Áras an Uachtaráin for the last time. His term ends at midnight.

Their route was lined by the #SanctuaryRunners, where Irish ppl run alongside and in solidarity with, migrants, asylum seekers & refugees. Monica Pumpkin from Botswana presented #MichaelD & Sabina with yellow roses.

Ireland's Musk-fuelled, fascist shelter-burners are furious.

Feck 'em. I'm proud to have a twice-elected president who supported refugees. Go raibh maith agat, Michael D ❤

Busy evening for the Sanctuary Runners! That’s Arás an Uachtaráin behind us. Mícheál asked us to come see him off. #SanctuaryRunners

Cold and wet at #poolbegparkrun and yet we had almost 250 on the course. Great fun at the finish with the volunteers in the gaps between finishers and a few frantic moments when the crowds showed up. I was on the clock again today with Bash and we had a near-perfect run other than me fat-fingering my phone during the funnel setup and clocking a phantom first place at about 0:51 🤪and of course happy 7th birthday #SanctuaryRunners!
Sanctuary Runners urge Government to adopt 'community integration strategy'

Sanctuary Runners have gathered at Leinster House to call on the new Government to adopt a 'community’, rather than a 'migrant’ integration strategy.

VERY slow #poolbegparkrun this week due to the crocked ankle from last week being a bit more crocked than I thought. I did get in under the hour but not by much. Kept company by two of the #SanctuaryRunners who are in the Dublin Marathon tomorrow!
