@Cognissart
Oh no!
I hope that gets better soon.
@Maker_of_Things they told me it will take a while unfortunately, but thanks

@Cognissart
Eeek!
So is your thumb the last thing stitched for a while?

It does look painful and very inconvenient.

@Maker_of_Things ha ha! πŸ˜‰ "Not" stitched in this case, as I took a chunk off and it just has to "heal" 🀯

@Cognissart
Still Eek!! then.
Good luck with the healing.
_____

It reminded me of the time, about 25 years ago, when I was chiselling concrete, missed the chisel, and broke my left thumb with the lump hammer.

I didn't go to hospital with it but just left it to heal while I carried on with having to work. Not a good idea as the joint now has limited movement.

@Maker_of_Things ouch! I think that would have hurt more than my thumb. The thing about very sharp things, they don't actually hurt so much (don't tell anyone though, I need the sympathy πŸ˜‰πŸ€£)

@Cognissart
That is true!
Often the first sign is the blood everywhere (speaking from experience) and you have to think back to when it might have happened.

Impact damage is the other way. You can't not notice when it happens (the sudden loud swearing gives it away a bit), but often there is little to show for it!

A late friend decades ago said it was the first time he heard me swear, just after he dropped a 1/2 ton stone gatepost on my little finger. I went to hospital for that one.

@Maker_of_Things 🀣
Surprisingly I didn't swear!
@Cognissart it’s particularly unfair when something nasty or stressful happens for which stitching would help, and the same thing precludes stitching. All the best!
@venite Thank you 😊 precisely! 😭
@Cognissart
Nooooo!
On the other hand (hehe) perfect opportunity to train your left hand. Just for the funsies.
@t_robinart amazing how ambidextrous you can become when needs be! 🀣
@Cognissart
Ha! I love language! :D
@Cognissart oh dear! Fingers crossed for a speech recovery!
@Cognissart ouch ... wishing you good healing!
@NatureMC Thank you 😊
@Cognissart That's horrible. (And quite a good dressing. Are you now a datapoint for A&E kitchen injuries?)
Please say the mandolin has been abolished.
@NatureMC
@Tony_Meredith @NatureMC evidently they "see a lot of these injuries" πŸ™„
Wonderful piece of kit, just not recommended for parsnips

@Cognissart oh no!

I hope your are back to stitching soon!

@sewblue so do I! I'll go slightly mad if I can't stitch 😭
@Cognissart such a bummer! Sending wishes for faster than expected healing
@inarticulatequilter Thank you 😊 the need to stitch is strong!!
@Cognissart Oh no! I hope it heals soon.
@Fredatron I just have to be careful with it - not one of my strengths obviously 🀣
@Cognissart Yeah, that does not sound easy!
@Cognissart I don't know if humour can help healing ... when I once came to the emergency room after cutting raw potatoes, the skilfully sewing doctor from India said: "Oh yes, potatoes can be very dangerous. Sometimes they bite back when you threaten them with a knife. Would you like a rice recipe, perhaps for a curry? That way you won't hurt yourself so deeply."
Indeed, I found fun in cooking curries ... πŸ˜„ And the scar reminds me how sneaky potatoes can become when threatened. 🀣
@NatureMC 🀣🀣 Evil vegetables hall of fame! πŸ₯”πŸ₯•(couldn't find a parsnip emoji)
@Cognissart Exactly! 🀭 ... and then come the kind and healing teeny-tiny rice grains with their curry healing super power! 🦸 πŸ₯·
At times like these, I regret not being able to draw comics.
