In retrospect, maybe it should have been a red flag earlier that they called the degree they gave me a "BS in computer science"
@mcc I mean, BSWOT would have been too on-the-nose.
@mcc my high school chem teacher told us she first got a BSc "you know what BS is short for, the C is for certificate" then an MSc "More of the Same Crap" and finally a PhD "Pile it Higher and Deeper".
@mcc I’ve somehow managed to have a BACS. I feel calling it a BS would be more honest.
@mcc In Czechia you'd get "Bc." before your name, there's also the word "binec" (bee neh ts) which means garbage
@xgebi Bc.Mcc that's pretty cool actually…

@mcc

More and more, I'm framing the IT work I do as "I'm doing my part in the battle against The Nonsense [aka BS]"

@mcc I suppose "fake it til you make it" and "move fast and break things" could be covered under the material of a BS in computer science.

I ended up with a MS. partly because it was easier to transfer within the graduate college.

Given that premise for a BS, I have to ponder if a MS. has aligned me with taking up reproductive labor like documentation, hiring interviews, and making sure people are on the same page.

@mcc fortunately, my CS degree is a BA. My computering is artsy, see?

My wife has a BS in PoliSci, though. Which seems eminently appropriate.

@mcc truly 😹 I am pursuing a BS in environmental sciences 😹🀣
Makes you wonder sometimes 🀣
@mcc When I got an Associate degree, I started putting ASS at the end of my name... but people told me they already knew that...

@howtophil @mcc
I'm sure none of my friends would be surprised that I'm a double ASS.

"Well, double dumb ass on you!"
– Captain Kirk

@mcc ok. what did you guys break this time?
@alex02 Society
@mcc do you know how little that narrows it down?
@mcc similarly, I probably should have started figuring out my gender issues when they started calling me MS

@mcc

Then there is the farmer who got a BA in sheep management.
