Many talented Ukrainian actors, artists, comedians, sportspeople, and others left their professional careers to take up arms and defend their country from Russian occupiers.

Russia's war against Ukraine has taken the lives of at least 240 Ukrainian culture makers. This is a great loss. They could have enriched Ukrainian and global culture with their talent for many more years to come.

Eternal glory and memory to all who gave their lives for Ukraine.

Many conservatives say: "Why do they leave their country as refugees. Why don't they stay and fight for their country? We don't want to shelter cowards who run at the first sight of trouble!"

That there is why. Because those people, their art, their work, their athletical or cultural engagement... is gone now. It might be replaced in the future but for now it's gone and their individual work just ended there. No more composition, no more tv shows, no more video games from these people. They leave a gap in the culture.

THAT is war. And I understand everyone who runs from that as well as I respect everyone who turns around and fight, knowing the price they might pay for it.
