Two dawn redwoods. One is in a shaded location, the other has a spot all by itself. They were bought/planted at the same time, and though the small one was smaller, it wasn't dramatically so. Small might be 12' tall. The big guy is ~30'.
One of my biggest disappointments is I won't live long enough to see them as giants.
They were planted in Nov 2018. The one next to the house is between service lines to my house, and a run going to the house behind mine. At some point, I'll probably have to do some pruning to keep them out of the wires. Might be after I'm dead.
All my trees will probably get cut down. People don't seem to like trees anymore. I have a black oak 6' from my house, and 4' from my eave. Squirrels planted it. It shouldn't be there, but I like it. I'll see how it does over the years.
