tonight's first #halloween #horror #movie was The Birds
BLUF: WTF
1. There are three adult women in this movie and all of them act deeply predatory towards Mitch
2. #Hitchcock was British and famously misogynistic (including towards Hedren specifically)
Conclusion: "the birds" are women...?
I have no idea why they put Bodega Bay, which has New England architecture, a robust lobster fishing industry and even robuster Maine accents in northern California.
Also the gasoline explosion scene with the seagulls watching it in delight.
There's a couple good moments. The birds gathering behind Melanie (though I feel like that should have been one shot showing both her and the gathering threat) and Mitch walking slowing through birds.
But overall this feels like a cult classic, not a Hitchcock movie.
