I have to admit it: I know very little about the Netherlands. I’ve had a few very brief stopovers in Amsterdam – which I suspect, like any capital city, bears almost no relation to the country it supposedly represents – and like capitals tend to do, it likely amplifies some aspects of the country that people would rather not have reflected.
