Apple Watch users: I recently switched to Ultra, and love it – I really had no idea how pleasing the design was, and I’m glad to be able to use my existing bands because I’m not a fan of the Ultra bands. However, it’s just a little too big to sleep in comfortably. Can I use my old watch at night and the Ultra during the day? Will the sleep tracking stuff sync properly?
@twostraws I don’t have two myself but yes I’ve heard of plenty of people using the strategy
@twostraws Yes, Apple Health will merge both data sources! I've done this in the past with a S3 and an S6
@twostraws it should, since it’s stored in the Heatlh-centric store. Just make sure both watches are logged into the same Apple acct.
@twostraws It even syncs to the iPad now ;)
@twostraws Yeah as long as they’re synced to the same Apple ID / iPhone their data will merge together. It doesn’t exactly happen instantly when there are updates from one watch or the other, but it does work.
@twostraws I've had a "day watch" and a "night watch" for years. All the health stuff syncs perfectly, even if I sleep in my "day watch" or vice versa.
@twostraws it will. Make shure you use your sleeping apple watch as primary data source in health for sleep related metrics. GO to health, browse to the relevant health metric, scroll down to sources, and reorder the list accordingly. Otherwise, the data from the daytime watch can overwrite some details. Also, I'd give it a go, I am sleeping with my ultra 3 every night, did so with my ultra 1 the past 3 years. It might grow on you. Pun attempted
@twostraws i had a much older watch Series 6 and it didn’t sync for me.
@twostraws yes, I;ve had two Apple Watches for a very long time. The only pain is when you do the updates.. but it will track ok.
@twostraws it just works, Paul. The more you spend the juster it works.
@twostraws That is exactly what I do. Ultra during day and Series 6 for sleep tracking. It works great!
@twostraws best watch! I use it with my old link bracelet - a fantastic pairing.
@twostraws Yes, I traded in my Ultra 1 for an 11, I have a 9 as well. Ultra failed me numerous times on the ski slopes and on the Mnt Bike trails and did not alert. The most serious was on the Kirkwood ski slopes, hit and run by a snow boarder, broken leg, knocked out with a helmet, and 5 bars on AT&T, but no alert to my wife. I am an outlier as a Santa Cruz Mountain man, but still, it’s Apple Back yard. The Garmin 830 never fails.
