👋 Friends, #Django's fundraiser is running through November 11th (kindly ignore the 9th, that's being fixed) and the foundation could use your support to continue our mission.

While I happily support the PSF in their mission, this is the DSF's biggest fundraiser every year, and even if you aren't a JetBrains user, our foundation could use your support.

Support the DSF via PyCharm:

PyCharm & Django annual fundraiser

Django Project

When the PSF closing down their grants program, the DSF has start receiving more grant requests to help pick up the slack. We can use your help!

Big picture: The DSF operates on about 1/16 of the annual budget of the PSF, and we haven't made our goal for the year.

If your company uses Django or if your AI company uses Django to tout how good your AI models are, please support the Django Software Foundation. 🙏

I advise clients and friends who are struggling to get their companies to sponsor the DSF, to consider sponsoring the DSF through GitHub Sponsors.

Their companies are already used to paying their monthly bill, and it's a relatively low friction way of supporting the DSF.

We have 160 monthly sponsors today, but we could easily get to 200 monthly by the end of the year.

@webology And check to see if your employer will match so you can double your donation!
@webology do you have advice on how to make it possible for non-profit companies (specifically a german gGmbH) to donate without that threatening the status?

@moanos That's a great question. I wasn't aware of there being any threat to the status. Are you worried about the German gGmbH's status or the DSF's 501(c)(3) status?

We have talked about opening up a non-US holding company to make donations easier, but I was hoping we could do that post-hiring an Executive Director.

@moanos One way, might be via GitHub Sponsors (which not everyone likes), but it's reoccurring revenue for us, which is good. https://github.com/sponsors/django

I encourage my clients and people who can't get their companies to donate to try that route since it's part of their monthly bill.

@webology i'm worried about the status of the German gGmbH. Basically they can't spend money on things that are not furthering their goals, otherwise they get in trouble with the tax office
@webology Done, thanks for everything 🙏
