@kaffando -- What's really worrisome is when I go in and specifically TELL my doctor(s) that I am autistic and perceive pain differently.
I can be at a NINE and still be walking around smiling and helping people.
Trying to be helpful and I end up hurting myself because this means (to the doctor) that they can manhandle and abuse me and I won't yell out or make a fuss.

Oh, I get that. I started working in pain management in very early 1990's and frankly, nothing has changed. Probably worse, in fact. I'm so sorry - and frustrated on your behalf - that you're still having to deal with this rubbish.
