Josh and Tim are introduced in ep. 2. The pilot arc was written to sort of pick up characters like a "road movie" to spread out the introductions. Then we split the pilot into 3 episodes for production reasons. And then introduce additional characters in eps 4 & 5. Common way to do things in anime.
But our production also slowed to a crawl, due to no budget. 🤷♂️
