It's been 11 years since I left NYC, after being a resident for 17 years, so my opinion on this is kinda moot. But if I was still there, think my vote for Mayor would go to Joseph Hernandez, a Cuban immigrant running as an independent, whose policy approach (apart from him pushing "AI" as a way to increase efficiency) seems more pragmatic than Mamdani's in several key areas. Sadly, given Hernandez is outside of the "two party system" his voice was absent from the debates. #nycelections #politics
Anyhoo - to be clear in this, Mamdani is obviously way preferable to the corrupt d-baggery of Cuomo, or the nutter d-baggery of Sliwa. But lost in the framing of this as a 3 (used to be 4) person race, is that there are others also running that like Mamdani, are not corrupt a$$hats, but that might be pushing policy advocacy that will ultimately work out better to the actual goal of a more affordable New York.
