Are nachos salad? The answer could have major implications for the Discourse.
@HG If salsa, yes

@michelestrider

I think it's the other way around. Salad is nachos.

@HG In Scotland, chips (fries to you) count as a salad. So yes.

@HG if we follow the rules for potato salad, they would need at least either mayonnaise or sour cream

So I'm gonna say yes

@HG

This is the kind of deep philosophy I come here for.

Thank you.

@HG it's time to break out the cube rules

The Cube Rule

Identify your food based on the location of structural starch. Is a hot dog a sandwich? No, it's clearly a taco.

@dogbrained

I see a lot of different names for "sandwich."

@HG oh it's a really long list

but according to it, salads are nachos so i think nachos should get to be salads too

@dogbrained @HG well, salads are salads until you add croutons at which point they become nachos

@aburka @dogbrained

I disagree. They're a bad salad until you add croutons.

@HG

With some cilantro? Definitely.

@Verrence

I have been convinced that salad is nachos, not the other way around.

@HG salads are nachos if there are croutons

@dannotdaniel

I believe they are better nachos with croutons, but still nachos without them.

@HG everything is a salad 😀

@syderiaos

I see where they're coming from, but I must respectfully disagree. Assumption 3 does way too much work in this definition. I'm sticking with either sandwich or nachos, with the dividing line being whether the food is to be eaten in discrete pieces or whether it is meant to be eaten as part of a coherent whole.

@HG Maybe. But this is why we have other words.

@colorblindcowboy

I am having fun compressing everything down into nachos or sandwiches tyvm.
