I’ve been voting for a while now - my first federal election was for the seat held by the Liberal Leader, John Turner. I’ve voted in every election I’ve been eligible for since then.
I have never seen lineups and confusion like this.
Elections Alberta, I presume, is responsible for this awkward mess?

@Jeneric Edmonton has been using a different system for something like 20 years. There is little to no institutional knowledge on how to run an election this way and very little time given to set it up. I have a lot of sympathy for the city staff trying to make this work given how little time they were given.

Bunch of changes from the #UCP that no one wanted or asked for… all from the person whose mantra is that Ottawa needs to stay in its lane. 🙄

Changes to the Local Authorities Election Act that banned tabulators came into force May 15, 2025 … giving municipalities 5 months to completely rewrite their election procedures, practices, hiring, and training.

And now that people are dealing with the inevitable chaos caused by the #UCPs dunderheaded move, they will immediately spin this as cities and towns being incompetent, and will use it to justify still more meddling. I expect initial disparaging comments Tuesday if not sooner.

@chad @DavidM_yeg @Chigaze As for the lineup I was in, I didn't hear any complaints about the election staff or volunteers at all.
It was all directed at the UCP and Voter Suppression strategies.
