@DavidJBianco I had a gift link in my timeline to the WA Post about this, so admittedly, I did not read this story and base my comment on the Post article.
While the solution is found, I'd argue the puzzle itself was not solved. As one of the Kryptos enthusiasts in the story said, it's also about finding and understanding the solution as much as it's about the solution itself.
This is a great reminder that security not only relies on good algorithms or designs, but also on the fact that there is no backdoor or alternative route to discover the cleartext.

I love that these people discovered the solution *actually* hiding in plain sight.

If the documents in the Smithsonian archive had not been sealed, I'd now wonder how many people had discovered this and either kept quiet or signed the NDA .... 🤔
