Apple and Facebook are enemies of the open web, and they've shown it by removing apps or pages where people report sightings of Trump's ICE thugs.

The "Justice" Department can't (yet) force censorship of regular websites that don't break laws.

This is why we have to save the open web.

@dangillmor One would think the app authors would have slam-dunk cases since they can quote verbatim a Supreme Court decision saying this is definitely illegal from less than a year ago.

@dangillmor The sad thing is that those apps don’t do anything you couldn’t do with a web site. And then no App Store can stop you. Companies make apps instead of web sites because they want to spy and track people. This app doesn’t need any functionality that can only happen in an app.
