So Reddit's failed NFT project is finally shutting down. They're asking everyone to move their stupid collectibles to a third party wallet before 2026, because they're finally shutting down their service that nobody used.

The avatars associated with these things apparently will still work on the website though, so if you're like me and just got one of those things for free at some point and forgot about it, there's nothing to worry about, unless you wanna sell it (not that anyone wants to buy non-functional Reddit avatar NFTs)

@rive While I agree Reddit never should have gotten involved in the NFT blockchain, it did create some interesting avatars with a few modifications in editing. Are they worth trading? Not really. The biggest problem in the avatar program was the artist was thinking too vague on what exactly these avatars should be and most just weren't worth paying for.
@IcePanda the avatars also were undermined by the fact that you can just upload any picture as your pfp and can't really use the avatar alongside the regular picture, only one or the other at a time, as far as I can remember. The whole NFT angle however made me completely lose any interest after checking it out once or twice

@rive I still question on whether if NFT moved away from its consuming too much energy to generate them. I heard they have but I'm not exactly sure.

If not then it'll soon become a debate like AI.
