I've found Electoral Organizing can satisfy both of those requirements. If you're looking for something that might be less impactful I'd suggest the RTS game Beyond All Reason, free to download and play, but I'm sure you'll figure out a way to make it expensive as well (even though it doesn't have micro transactions).

First, buy big telescope
Then, buy specialized digital camera
with lots of pixels

I'm still at the 'sitting on the floor' phase but this is high on the bucket list.
