Finished #sewing the #BJD 'Sarouel' pants.

Image: Side by side photo of photo reference for some doll pants and the actual #doll pants I made

Pattern is from book Tiny Wardrobe by Hanom / Satomi Fujii ISBN: 978-4-86505-226-8

At first I thought that reversing the hem on the inside out leg would salvage it by placing a ribbon on one ankle but - nope, somehow managed to sew the front seam outside in as well. 🤦🏿‍♀️

(The incorrect seam is not pictured)

Pants pictured are largest pattern variation

@Faintdreams Ooh, so sweet! I love her designs and that book. I haven't tried making those pants yet though. They look lovely!

@jupitersigh It feels like some of the English translations are a little off ? But most on the instructions are easy to navigate if you scrutinise the pictures if you got confused.

The pants pattern was easy to make even though I used poss the worst fabric choice - light - muslin, and hand sewing.

If you used a tight weave light cotton or linen (and also used fray check which the tutorial said to do, but I didn't as it was just a mock up) then this could be a nice relatively quick project.

@Faintdreams The Muslim looks so nice and delicate, but I can see how it would be difficult without using fray check. It does look lovely though!

Yeah, I've found some of the English confusing too, but I need to try and make more from that book.

I have some of her patterns in the Dolly Dolly magazines as well that I'd like to try out. Do you have any of those magazines?

@jupitersigh I unfortunately don't have any of the Dolly Dolly mags, hard copies in English seem kinda expensive for what they are? And the pdfs I have seen for sale online never look like they would print out at the correct scaling for the patterns.
@Faintdreams If there are any patterns you'd like from ones that I have I'd be happy to scan them for you. I'm not sure exactly about the printing out correctly part, it might be a bit of trial and error in the end, bit I'm willing to try if you like.
@Faintdreams oh I forgot to say, the ones I have are in Japanese so a bit of translate or just following the photos and educated guesswork is necessary. There are some scans up on internet archive as well.

@Faintdreams lol! And I also got the name of the magazines wrong! I meant Dollybird, not Dolly Dolly, although I have one or two of those as well.

It's early morning here and I'm clearly not doing well yet! 😅

@jupitersigh thank you for the offer but I have plenty of paper patterns already !
@jupitersigh I recently bought a mini dress form and hope to teach myself draping because .. that seems like the best long term solution!
@Faintdreams ooh yes, that would be so helpful to know how to do. I've seen some people using their dolls to make patterns from and it somehow seems doable and complex at the same time. I haven't tried yet.

@jupitersigh the Closet Historian on YouTube has a series of videos about learning Draping, they are long and I haven't gotten through them all yet but they are super detailed.
