"On July 10, I was on my way to work when ICE agents engulfed my car in tear gas, smashed my driver-side window, and pepper-sprayed my face."

"I spent three nights and three days in federal custody... I was never told what I was charged with, was not allowed to shower despite being covered in tear gas and pepper spray, had no phone call to my family, and no access to an attorney... No explanation. No charges. No apology. One day, I was just told, 'you’re free to go.'"

I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.

Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Home of the Brave
@victorvonvortex Please quit referring to it as tear gas. It is a chemical weapon, created for war, being used upon unarmed citizens. Anyone who has been on the receiving end knows it does a helluva lit more than make your eyes water.

@Fat_Farang

I think your concern might more meaningfully be directed at the author of the article.

@victorvonvortex It was direct at everyone.

@Fat_Farang

Tear gas is banned in war under the Chemical Weapons Convention which keeps combatants safe from it, but not ordinary citizens.

@victorvonvortex

@Sanderde @victorvonvortex Need to call it CS Gas, after the largest maker, Combined Systems based in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, USA.

@Fat_Farang

Watch their share prices go up in the coming months.
