Oh, since I got a comment regarding my Framework stuff being "political", lemme give you a glimpse into my world:

1) I used to daily and like hyprland as a compositor. Unfortunately, if I ever wanna contribute, I'll have to expect to be harassed and discriminated against.

2) The idea behind xlibre, being "how bout we clean up the x11 codebase a bit, fix some stuff and add a couple features" is in general something I can get behind, but I will have to expect dealing with transphobic bs if I ever wanna contribute. The best chances I'd have is by hiding my identity as best I can.

3) I don't know what Omarchy's deal is. I won't find out, because if I like it, guess what: I am basically excluded from contributing.

4) If I inevitably get harassed, I will get accused of "not being tolerant of other political opinions" when I go public with it, since apparently vile BS like that is somehow equatable with disagreeing about taxes n stuff.

5) Oh yeah, this is by far not limited to FOSS contributing. Last time I went back to my home town for a doctors receipt, I got called a f*g and the guy wanted to physically fight me.

But sure, "please don't tolerate people wanting to see me dead or worse" is somehow political. Me just existing must be a strong political statement then. And I'm not even a politician.

@lucydev There seems to be some movement from leadership now. I guess we'll see what happens.

@pojntfx thats good. I hope they do some due diligence before supporting any projects financially in the future.
@lucydev I hope so too. Mostly I think that these people need to get off Twitter or they will continue seeing a strange and distorted view of their userbase.
@pojntfx @lucydev

This comment is actually even worse than their original in my opinion. He spent 8 words to say "i am pro immigrant and pro LGBTQ" and spent the rest of this statement saying that the response calling him racist and transphobic because of his poor decision and poor response was unreasonable and that "clearly i need to make my beliefs known" as if it detracts from his actions and his incredibly poor response.

He did not acknowledge any wrongdoing, he did not acknowledge how his actions belie what he claims his beliefs are, he made no effort to do better- he said "i'm the GOOD thing so its okay".

This is abysmal. I'm very close to withdrawing financial support from them
permanently, pending nothing but complete change of leadership if this defensiveness continues.

@lucydev Espechally #4 of this is classical #TonePolicing as if #humanRights are debateable like preferences for underwear colours.

  • At some point those that "debate" peoples' rights to exist will push the wrong marginalized person which has nothing to loose but their own dignity and self-esteem, at which point, things will turn nasty...

I pray for that not to happen, but I am aware of that bieing statistically inevitable at the current rate!
