Mew, peeps! I joined #Finch, thanks to inspiration from a lovely friend of the miaolings here on Mastodon! My birb is named Bamboo and they are still a baby. They spend their time walking long distances in the forest, which is pretty much what I wish I could do all day. We’ll see how the app works for me, but so far I have a good feeling about it.
My birb gets to carry around a little rubber ducky. I’m so happy for them!
Little Bamboo couldn’t finish all their tasks today 😭
My birb baby Bamboo doesn’t like the Very Hungry Caterpillar because they are jealous of caterpillars!
I had an upsetting phone call (aren’t they all) to make but knowing that I could mark it off on #Finch helped me get it done. 🎉
Productivity update: The #Finch micropets make cute little noises when you tap them. I have been petting someone’s baby duck micropet and I just can’t get enough of it. I wish I could see the names of other people’s micropets.
#Finch dilemma: If I sell our birdhouse door, I can afford a basket of black carrots for Bamboo to carry around. But maybe we need a door.
My birb is naked until I can decide how to dress them

@littlemiao

Let's just hope that it won't quit and remains legit.

@serge My poor birb 😹
@littlemiao @serge I am too scared to use Finch cos I know I’ll eventually stop logging it and then I’ll feel guilty.
@hauntedhideaway @serge I totally get that. But for whatever reason if something has a streak and an interface i like, I get obsessed, maybe too much so!
@littlemiao Apart from being cute, does the app really work for you in terms of "self care"? I could totally see how I could be hooked by the gamification aspect but not how it would help me to achieve the simplest goals.

@lappenjammer Well, it works for me more in terms of productivity but the self care reminders and tasks are useful too and maybe they will pay off over time.

It is weird, but it makes it easier for me to start certain tasks. For example, I am going to wash dishes or take a shower regardless, but knowing I can earn rainbow stones for Bamboo gives me extra motivation when I am super tired. And for unpleasant tasks I am avoiding, adding it to the app has increased the chances of me actually doing it.

It also works better as a to do list than my pitiful paper version or no list at all.

@lappenjammer Also, I’ve always been motivated by progress bars, streaks, and virtual confetti. I don’t know why!
@littlemiao Hooray for that 🎉🎉🎉
@lappenjammer Yay confetti! So far my biggest complaint is that there is no indication that I can purchase eyestalks for my birb.
@littlemiao What??? That is serious neglect.
