Any Fastmail users have advice on managing spam? I've always heard that its spam filter is "nearly as good as Gmail", but in practice I get ~10-15 cold-call B2B drip campaign emails get through me today, even though I always banish them to the Junk folder to train it.
@searls I run the Mac app SpamSieve locally to supplement Fastmail.
@searls for some reason, moving mails to the spam folder never really worked for me either to train it . But I now have a folder called “Spam Learning”, and in Fastmail’s folder settings, I set the option to have Fastmail learn from mails in this folder as spam. Move any spam that gets through to this folder. This noticeably reduced the amount of spam that gets through after a bit of training time(screenshots are from the iOS app, web interface looks slightly different IIRC)
@cypher @searls I will have to try this. I have the default Spam folder set to learn, but I still get several spam emails every day.

@searls is that “Junk folder” a folder you set up specifically to train Fastmail’s spam classifier? Because they can’t train from the default Junk folder.

I also use (and recommend) SaneBox, but I still get 2-3 of the same spam messages a week and putting them in the junk training folder doesn’t seem to make a difference.
