@momercury I don't think this goes against the ways of mastodon at all. I typically use favorites as an alternative to boosts, if I want to show that I saw something and appreciated it or care about it but I don't want it on my own profile, but plenty of people do both liberally. Favorites show a little love and boosts help other people to find the content, so they serve different purposes and often people want to achieve both goals.

- fave: I like that you said it
- boost: I want other people to know that you said it.
