I see so much gaslighting of people who are struggling to find jobs at junior and mid-level cybersecurity by folks who got their last job or first job before 2023. It's unreal and uncalled for. The market and the automation in the hiring processes have gone to hell. https://www.reddit.com/r/SecurityCareerAdvice/comments/1o1d3eb/i_am_an_underpaid_l1_soc_analyst_with_2_yoe_was/

I am senior level in IT (not cybersecurity). I am suffering the same problem. It’s disheartening when finally something pops up that doesn’t completely suck, and despite having been published only 2 hours ago claims to have 100+ applications already.
I don’t get through that first AI defense line. I never even hear back. They could at least have the curtesy to send AI generated no thank yous…
Also, if you don’t fit the mould, no chance for development (certainly not at my age).

I've been looking for the next opportunity for five years now, have 40+ years experience as an ICT professional, and obviously the bots have decided that I'm too old to be useful, never make it past the first gate.

It's disheartening to put it mildly.

The only way is through contacts these days. I hope the tide will turn!
