We got a phone update from big Auntie, who is still on her extended revisit trip in Vietnam. We lost communication for 5 days as she was traveling from off grid rural areas outside of Hanoi & then Typhoon Matmo hit the area really hard. Auntie is safe but had to evacuate from the hotel she was staying at. She's now staying with some comrades at a house that isn't in the full flood zones. She travels back to Saigon next week.

@PhoenixSerenity Years ago, I had a friend, who was from Nepal. He would tell me about severe flooding that occurred in his village. I can't remember if it was flooding caused due to a typhoon though. But, either way the stories he told me about the flooding are etched into my brain...
@rlstone4dems Both my parents told me stories of their lived experiences with a couple of big typhoons in the past, before I was born. There wasn't as many huge climate disasters as there is these days. The increased ecocides over past 50 years have contributed to more climate instability - it's a global crisis, creating more climate refugees & our shitass governments are still doubling down on more ecocide. It's beyond infuriating.
