So, #Stadler won the tender for a lot of #tram to #Helsinki, instead of the well anticipated #SkodaTranstech .
Sure a bit of a surprise that Skoda's trams didn't meet all *1600* requirements? I'm burning to know what they all are and which ones were not met.
Ofc, Skoda has a chance to take this to the market court which I'm quite sure will happen (as it usually happens in tenders like these) but I have low hopes for that to bear fruit.

Skoda has already delivered 107 trams to Helsinki, 15 more to come.
Both #Kaupunkiliikenne and the passengers have been happy with them, and there is a lot of chatter about how this happened, and ofc it's always sad when a finnish manufacturer doesn't win a major tender.

I'd like to eavesdrop on the Vantaa city government and also Kaupunkiliikenne's people. While they're bound by rules, this must've been difficult.

@Jourei Was the Stadler offer cheaper?
@aslakr No price comparison was done as Skoda's trams didn't meet all of the criteria.
But someone made a comment that Stadler's were around the usual price, I would speculate that Skoda's would be a little more expensive.
@Jourei wait, they managed to make a tender where the current producer could meet all the mandatory criteria?
@aslakr Stadler is the new player in town, all previous trams in the past 10 years have been delivered by Skoda, who now did _not_ meet the criteria.

@Jourei I hope that our meter gauge¹ trams in Trondheim https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TT_Class_8 soon will be replaced, and whatever Helsinki chooses might be of interest in our winter climate.

@aslakr I will of course suggest ones made by Skoda Transtech. :D
They already have plenty of experience with nordic climates!
