@echo_pbreyer
Many thx !
Hey French people ! C’est par ici la pétition
It is not finally decided in Germany!
I also had the feeling that our government is yet to decide on a clear course.
In a major breakthrough for the digital rights movement, the German government has refused to back the EU's controversial Chat Control regulation today after facing massive public pressure. This blocks the required majority in the EU Council, derailing the plan to pass the surveillance law next week
@winkelmesser I'd like to get to a more concrete plan of action. For one thing, I would like to exact a toll on political actors who work to bring about this kind of legislation.
We need to end Peter Hummelgaard's political career, and it should be common knowledge that his career ended because he tried to destroy privacy.
Thorn should become politically toxic.
Threatening privacy should be political suicide.
@jozeldenrust @winkelmesser @echo_pbreyer We need to build up a european community to educate people (of every gender, age and political spectrum that opposes this) and we need to build it now. We should go and educate in universities, schools and public places about the right of privacy
History teaches that our fundemental human rights are not inviolable if we don't protect them every day
Off the top of my mind, the green block are countries where the tech sector is more prominent. People have higher digital literacy, so maybe they are more involved & willing to speak up (whether they're politicians or citizens pestering them!)
Fantastic success! Bullying politicians works after all 😁
What's interesting about this map is how closely the "yes" members correlate to a list of countries that have lost their living memory of being ruled by authoritarian regimes or already surrendered themselves to authoritarianism once again.
