The recent launch of an online version of D. B. Updike’s *Printing Types* by @Rougeux with its apt and totally excellent use of Linotype Monticello, got me reminiscing about a favorite book that I designed back in 2004 also using Monticello (but licensed directly from Carter & Cone):

*Wild Moments* is a collection of short essays by Ted Williams that originally appeared as a monthly column in *Audubon* magazine, chronicling the seasons with brief observations on the natural world.

@kentlew @Rougeux This looks like a joy to read, so beautifully typeset 😍

@jasonsantamaria @Rougeux Thanks! I was lucky to have support and budget to commission all the illustrations.

This was not typical fare for this publisher. Usually I got called upon to design complex how-to & reference sorts — gardening, cookbooks, gardening, building, country skills, animal husbandry, that sort of thing.

This was a nice break: a “reading” book, as we referred to it in their context. 😄

@kentlew @jasonsantamaria I would imagine so! Great to have a nice break like that.
