at #fediday @tomate set an impulse at his talk that someone might implement an analogon to #bookwyrm not for books but for #music. he pointed out that the hard part is finding a semantic model that describes releases, titles, albums e.t.c in a consistent way. in case someone wants to do this, there is already the open project https://musicbrainz.org which did exactly that in free and open. https://wiki.musicbrainz.org/MusicBrainz_Database/Schema if you wanna do it, build it on what's already there ;) *nudge*
MusicBrainz - the open music encyclopedia

@grindhold @tomate I want a hyper-local music-sharing thing. Where you have to locally meet someone first to be their buddy
@Profpatsch @grindhold @tomate There is Funkwhale which has a functioning music distribution API, and is in the process of federation.

@grindhold @tomate @jascha I do believe @neodb can handle music reviews, if you want something that you can join right now.

But there may well be room for a new music-specific product of some kind, since NeoDB is more of a general media thing. I'm not certain what the trade-offs are.
