Mr. Pope
Mr. Pope
That you have to have a heart. You have to believe in things, and see right from wrong
Weāre losing that as a species. Laws arenāt a replacement for morality, but theyāre treated like it
Thereās no set of laws that could save us from global warming or bring the local community together. But these are very necessary things
I didnāt want to do this, but Iāve had enough; Iām calling the lads:
I canāt help but read the popeās text in the voice of Dagoth Ur.
Come, Nerevar, come and return to the Heart šµ
Too bad the stats on the responder got cropped.
If the pope got ratioād by some guy mansplaining the bible to him, Christianity would have another schism
Holy fuck, thats even worse that I imagined. Most places Iād seen that just cropped to just the first line of the reply, delightfully skipping all of the āsin of empathyā heresy.
As depicted in the gospels, when Jesus was asked what the most important part of the law was our Lord And Savior literally said ālove.ā.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.ā The second is this: āLove your neighbor as yourself.ā There is no commandment greater than these.ā
I thought his comment on the heart was just some made up bs. Turns out no, itās not. Itās an old testament verse, but still in the Bible. As an aside, why do the evangelicals love the old testament so much? Is it because it gives more of a right to be judgy?

From a skeptical translation point of view, I want to know if the word heart means the same thing today as it did then.
The old testament is literally just there for context.
I had to learn that for myself because I wasnāt taught it while a baptist. I learned that as an atheist! Its just Tue new testament that matters.

Iām sure that part is mostly accurate, but I think itās talking about other peopleās hearts, rather than oneās own.
In context, itās trying to make a point about how one should trust god above men, because thereās no way for one to know how another person truly feels (but in theory god can).
Youād have to ask a theologian for an actual answer.
Full submission and obedience > true freedom
Makes sense to me
True freedom is achieved when the others have submitted to you.
