@ianturton apologies for the direct approach but who is the audience for FOSS4GUK? I ask as someone who uses, and arguably develops, FOSS, have an interest in G and lives in the UK.
@ianturton I tried reading up on Leeds' contribution to early(ish) GIS. Couldn't find much. If you know of a write up I'd appreciate knowing.
@andybmapman @ianturton Stan Openshaw et al in Leeds (early 90s) did a lot of work in spatial data analysis.
@geospacedman @andybmapman there was a French (?) student who was writing a history a few years back. Andy Turner is still at Leeds and has written some history too, I think there's still a Centre for Computational Geography web site too.
