It's hard for some of my fellow Europeans to understand why Trump is sending the military to US cities.

It's hard for me to understand why some of my fellow Europeans support Trump wannabes in the EU & UK.

Politics based on imagined threats of internal enemies always heads in this direction: toward state violence against innocent people.

How can anyone look at the descent of the US into authoritarian mass violence & think, "yeah, that's what my country needs, too?"

Because the lessons from the 1930s are apparently forgotten…

@andrewstroehlein Same happening in Australia. Irrational fear and anger.
@andrewstroehlein Because the people who want that are inadequate in their own lives and want someone to blame as longg as it isn't themselves. On a wider spectrum, we in the UK, and I think ialso in the US need a far better education system, not one that trains too early for particular sectors but one that recognises a true education, where people learn to think, is available to all.

@andrewstroehlein Take checklist, add check marks:

9.) «Permanent Warfare» ✅
10.) «Popular Elitism» ✅
11.) «A Cult of Death» ✅

The fascist pariahs of the world were unwilling to become more democratic, so they have worked tirelessly to normalize fascism by dragging down and dividing any nominally democratic country they can.

It wasn't so long ago that police-states like China were seen as extreme, now they're lauded as the future. They've managed to both help the GOP destroy the US, divide the US and Europe, and also whitewash their own reputation with the next generation via avenues like TikTok.

@andrewstroehlein Fascism drips in - it takes time and this is another step. Very soon the king will be on the throne .. and all republicans will be flabbergasted and ask themselves "How did that happen" It happened already in Germany in the 1930's so we know the signs..
@andrewstroehlein i think most people just aren’t really paying attention and see the surface level angst and glitz and that’s all they want
