Alright yeah, I'm switching to #EntePhotos. It's pretty much a drop-in replacement for #GooglePhotos with a local-only machine learning model for face/object/scene recognition to enable image search. If you try it and like it too, referral code STORMDERGRAWR will get you 10GB extra storage!
Also if anyone else has signed up for a paid tier of #EntePhotos, send me your referral code too! I didn't use a referral code when signing up and I wanna max out my free bonus storage! First referral code I receive will also get the 10gb bonus bump from me using your code.
I've found it to be a perfectly cromulent photo app so far. I do wish storage prices were more on par with Google but at least I can transition to self-hosting Ente at some point if I really want toOkay yeah I lied, sorry, lol... I just have to say I am VERY impressed with how seamless the transition into using #EntePhotos has been. I just downloaded my Google Takeout data and discovered Ente can directly import the ZIP file from Google - and it restores *everything*.
Y'ALL. Amazing shit!
@Shinisuryu Yeah give it a try, you can install it on your phone and sign up for free and get like 10gb of space to play with. If you like what you see, then you can subscribe in-app or via their website. Sub prices could be a bit better, but if you look back in this thread and use my referral code and you'll get an extra 10GB for free, and you can earn more free space if you refer anyone else, too. I'd recommend using their apps for Windows, MacOS, and Linux to do bulk uploads though... it processes much faster, and that also applies to the local-only machine learning model (if you turn that option on). That model gets shared between all your devices too, encrypted and syncronized via Ente just like your photos are.
I've been *very* impressed with Ente at every step of the exploration process, honestly.
