My Lego Game Boy review. Seriously, is there some kind of German word for what I'm feeling here? https://www.theverge.com/games/787849/lego-nintendo-game-boy-review
Lego’s Nintendo Game Boy is a brick masterpiece just shy of perfection

The Verge reviews the Lego Nintendo Game Boy, and compares it to a real 1989 Game Boy and cartridge.

The moment I knew the Lego Game Boy was something special was when I saw they'd chosen this to display: the heartstring-tugging beach scene from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

So I took my time to get this photo right.

It might not impress the kids, but this game was the pinnacle of the original Game Boy, and you could only watch this cutscene once per playthrough unless you saved your SINGLE savegame right before it and stopped playing there... which I did, to get this photo.

Now, of course, there's YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwjewLrq8GM&list=RDvwjewLrq8GM&start_radio=1

And speaking of battery-backed cartridge savegames, Lego pays homage to that in an easter egg! The Link's Awakening cart has one; the Super Mario Land cart appropriately does not!

@seanhollister I can’t believe your Game Boy still has the link cable cover, the ONLY time I remember seeing one of those was when I unboxed my original Game Boy back in the day
@TychoQuad ditto! This one's actually my wife's and she stored it in the original carry bag for like 20 years. Tempted to put it back to avoid yellowing. You can see the cover doesn't stay in perfectly...
@TychoQuad my own never came with one when I bought it at a garage sale in the late 90s
