October starts tomorrow and as I had a lot of fun last year taking part in #hARToween I figured I should try another month long daily pixel art creation challenge again.

The prompt list of #cosytober2025 looks like it could be fun, and so I think I'll go with that!

Not yet sure about my personal rules, but currently thinking about 64x64 (vs 128x128 last year) & maybe EDG77 or possibly even something smaller as a palette...

Like last year of course I won't commit to actually do it every day as real life will probably prevent that from working, but again the goal will be to finish all, and if possible within October.

Last year's thread is btw here: https://chaos.social/@foosel/113233763230193057

Attached: 1 image In order to improve my fresh #pixelart skills I'm going to try my hand at #hartoween 👉 https://social.horrorhub.club/@stina_marie/113220760493893634 Can't promise I'll be able to do everything on the day its due, and that I'll have the energy to keep up with it throughout the month, but it's worth a try at least. Personal rules: 128x128px (but exported at 200%), trying to stick to the ENDESGA64 palette as much as I can. So, here's day 1: Pumpkin #aseprite

Ok, here we go, my entry for day 1 of #cosytober2025, "Comfy". And I consider a hot mug of my favourite tea and a book a very comfy thing indeed, so I chose that.

64x64px (though rendered out at 400%), EDG77 palette, but only 16 of those colors used.

Not 100% happy, but hey, it's been a year since I last did any #pixelart and it took some time back then as well to get into the flow of things ^^

Like last year I've used my 12" Wacom drawing tablet because I can't draw with a mouse.

And here's day 1's timelapse.
@foosel interesting! what did you use the orange lines in the steam for? some kind of outline or rough sketch?
@daniel_bohrer rough outline & sketch, more visible on the checkboard background in Aseprite than what steam should look like ^^
@foosel ahh yes I figured that on the edges of the book, the color is too similar :D

Day 2 of #cosytober2025: "Fungi"

And we can't do fungi without some moss of course.

10 colors from EDG77 this time.

And here's day 2's timelapse.

I decided I need some kind of signature on these and so now added a frame with my nick to my workflow (using colors that are also in the picture itself).

I think that's not too much into your face, gives things a nice anchor and also shows that I'm standing with my work 😊

@foosel you're doing great stuff!

Day 3 of #cosytober2025: "Acorn"

11 colors from EDG77. Not 100% happy with the leaves tbh, but "perfect" is the enemy of "done" 😅

cc @RosieSoCosy

#pixelart #aseprite #cosytober2025day3

And here's the timelapse of day 3.
@foosel without looking at the context I thought this was an /r/anarchychess submission at first 😅
@foosel That is an infinite amount of patience, well done.

Day 4 of #cosytober2025: "Friend"

Naturally the first thing that came to mind for me was @janinahimmen, but I didn't trust myself to be able to draw her (or any human tbh), so instead I went with the other kind of friend everyone should have - my support plushy @timothy

This one used 12 colors from EDG77 and was based on a picture I took of him back in 2023 :) https://plushies.social/@timothy/110287330025326643

Day 5 of #cosytober2025: "Yellow"

Thought a while about this one and then remembered my first LEGO space minifigures ^^

7 colors from EDG77 this time. Spaaaaaaace!

And here's today's timelapse.

Day 6 of #cosytober2025: "Star"

Lot's of TODOs this work week, so I'm kinda glad the Monday had a prompt I could do rather quickly 😅 I briefly thought about a drawing of our sun based on a NASA shot, but decided against that due to time. Maybe I'll do that as a bonus at a later day, if so I'll add it as a reply.

*edit* almost forgot: 5 colors of EDG77

And here's today's timelapse.

Day 7 of #cosytober2025: "Apple"

Something's not right on the lighting, but I have to take care of work stuff now 😅 Still happy with the result, considering I'm still very much a beginner.

A whopping 15 colors of EDG77 this time, an apple has a surprising amount of colors, and I didn't even add some water drops as I originally wanted to 😉

#pixelart #aseprite

And here is today's timelapse:

Day 8 of #cosytober2025: "Sprinkles"

When I read the prompt the first time, a donut is what came immediately to my mind, so that's what I went with.

13 colors from EDG77 - I am admittedly surprised that this used less colors than the apple yesterday ^^

cc @RosieSoCosy

#pixelart #aseprite

And this is today's timelapse:
@foosel you're doing great with lights and depth.

Day 9 of #cosytober2025: "Umbrella"

Haven't watched Mary Poppins since childhood, but that still came to my mind when reading today's prompt. So here we go. Best I could do today 🤧

12 colors from EDG77.

cc @RosieSoCosy

#pixelart #aseprite

And here's the timelapse

Day 10 of #cosytober2025: "Pink"

Here's Waddles from #GravityFalls, which I recently rewatched 😊 Went all in with the matching cartoon style.

9 colors from EDG77. Not happy with the background, but my attempts to do the actual one from that scene ended up very meh 😅

Gotta say, these drawings are a nice distraction right now, this 🤬 COVID infection is giving me some brainfog and sleep deprivation.

cc @RosieSoCosy

#pixelart #aseprite #GravityFalls #Waddles

And here's the timelapse (now also actually as reply). Sorry, forgot the title card this time.

Day 11 of #cosytober2025: "Scarf"

Homage to Alto's Adventure, a fun and chill mobile game that I still enjoy playing from time to time. Always loved how long the character's scarf can get there! 🧣

Sorry, no timelapse or colour stats today, sick AF 🤒🦠

Used the Android pixelart drawing app Pixel Studio instead of my usual Aseprite. Apparently there's some genAI with the same name, so no tagging here... 😒

*edit* did some minor fixes

Day 12 of #cosytober2025 : "Jumper"

Yes, I'm aware that the prompt meant a sweater/pullover, but this is what *I* understand to be a jumper - I'm also an electronics nerd, sorry 😄 [1]

Also gave me a reason to finally try my hand at something isometric. Came out a tad too big though.

That was something like 8 colours from EDG77. Once more drawn with Pixel Studio for Android on my tablet due to reasons 🤧, so no timelapse.

Day 13 of #cosytober2025: "Bear"

Hmm... not very happy with the background, didn't manage to give things enough contrast. Tried a bunch of colouring approaches but couldn't find the solution. But at least this looks like the scenery I wanted to draw, and as I'm still quite sick it's the best I can do for now.

Once more drawn on my android tablet, so no timelapse.

Day 14 of #cosytober2025: "Pattern"

Still on the couch 🤧 but now with a Surface tablet running Linux and thus back on #Aseprite!

That pattern was more work than expected and was also the first time I had to add colours for the frame because otherwise it wasn't looking good at all, but I think that was worth it!

Four colours from EDG77 without the frame, 6 with it.

cc @RosieSoCosy

#pixelart

And look, it's a timelapse!
@foosel I did not expect this to be every pixel hand drawn! 👏
@RobeeShepherd well, half of them, I used the mirror mode
@foosel Actually I think this background looks really good, too.
@GreenSkyOverMe Thanks - maybe it's a case of "looking at it too long and too closely" 😅
@foosel @RosieSoCosy This should be in Oregon Trail 😊
@foosel @RosieSoCosy that was my first thought as well, but felt a bit too tiny to draw. perfect for a size restricted pixel art though!
@foosel that was also the first jumper that came to my mind :D (only 90s non-English-speaking computer nerds will understand, probably 😁)
@daniel_bohrer @foosel working as embedded software developer, I still come across these kind of jumpers every so often. Maybe not as much as my electronics colleagues, but still.
@foosel Love this! And get well soon 👍
@RosieSoCosy Thank you! Second run of COVID, might yet be a few days 😅
@foosel Love this! Me and my classic minifigs approve! Lost the helmet throughout the years, but the rest is still original. 😄
Ooooooh, thank you so much for this awesome portrait, @foosel! 💚💚💚
@foosel This looks really cute! And a way better choice than my boring face 😄
@janinahimmen I wouldn't call it boring 😊 But human faces are something I'm still very sure I can't draw in a way they are recognizable 😅 Have been meaning to try my hand at my own avatar for a while now though, maybe I'll dare to do it after the training this challenge gives me.
Absolutely love this! I also have a support plushie (well alright, a few). @foosel @janinahimmen @timothy
@RosieSoCosy Oh that's great! @timothy also is definitely not the only one here, there's a whole herd 😄
@foosel tbh, oak leaves do have a lot of detail :D but these ones are totally recognizable! and I like the brown dithering on the acorns!
@foosel I love seeing pixel art here too, and so well done too 😍
@RosieSoCosy Thank you, I'm still learning and challenges like this one help a lot with that 😊 So thank you for the prompt list, I'll do my best to work through it throughout October 😊
