🚨 New publication in Nature! 🚨

I propose adding a “Speculation Box” to research papers: a short, clearly labeled section where scientists can share bold but non-evidence-based ideas, under a disclaimer that protects rigor while legitimizing imagination.

Should science give itself more room to dream?

🚨 New publication in Nature! 🚨
Science today is rigorous, precise, and trustworthy. That’s great. But when it comes to imagination, we hold back, hedging our ideas, avoiding bold statements because we’re always asked: “Where’s your evidence?”

I propose adding a Speculation Box to research articles.

Yes, there are risks. Speculation might be misunderstood.

But the rewards are greater: sparking discovery, and restoring the human voice to science.

Should science give itself more room to dream?
