I've never really thought about surreal horror as a genre, but apparently it is a genre, and one I quite like. But how do you run it as an RPG adventure? Doing horror justice at the table is already hard enough.
So currently I'm trying to prep Impossible Landscapes, for Delta Green, and it's a beautiful gem of an adventure. Enormous levels of clues for the Agents to uncover, to the point where they can easily miss two thirds and still get somewhere. All filled with bizarrely surreal connections and general weirdness, but hidden behind layers of mundanity, because otherwise it becomes meaningless. I'm really looking forward to running this one.
Still wondering if I should do it at the table or online. I generally prefer table, but I've got the PDF version and there are a lot of handouts. And it's probably easier to do weird tricks with sounds and recording, though that would be a first for me.
