Flight landed in ATL 30 mins early!
And oh, partner called it. My connection to Pittsburgh is delayed
Wait what - I managed to go across to the other terminal and get on the previous flight!! (Standby but there are plenty seats!) I'll worry about checked bag later. Better than getting delayed past 12:30am

#TravelTales

Huh!
29th Sept
Gate A29
and seat I get assigned is 29e
Some kind of trifecta

#TravelTales

Wait whaaaat? The gate guy takes my boarding pass and types something up and switches my seat as I go in. No trifecta - but now I'm at an emergency exit row window seat with lots of legroom...
(The gate agent was nice and we chatted when I asked about the switch and stand by in the first place - and didn't charge me (would be $75 he said when he started looking up)

(Do they sell lottery tickets on board?)

#TravelTales

Maybe he was amused earlier as I reached to unmask after I gave him my passport (that I had ready) after he asked for ID. He joked he could tell it was me. Then we chatted a bit.

Maybe it was because I said Thank you <his first name> (that I had seen on his badge) when I gave him my boarding pass to scan at the gate to board. (That's when he took the print out and typed me up a the new seat assignment)

Oh free wifi on board!

Oh oh oh! Landed in Pittsburgh and I go to baggage claim with my ticket - just to check if they can track my bag. It's small carry on size but I bought a bottle and a few things - was prepared to pick it up later.
I expected it to come in later with my original flight - not the earlier one I managed to get into but nooo it's HERE!

(Need to find the lottery thing)

#TravelTales

I'm really not joking about the lottery thing. I mean Sunday I got taken to breakfast by the conference organizer and her adult kids (conf got over Friday) - they took me to a menudo (or pancita) restaurant (I had mentioned I wanted to have menudo) and then spent more than half the day with me around at the cuyacon area and market.
And then she even picked me up this morning at 9:30am and dropped me at the airport...
I'm totally floored at the kindness and generosity they bestowed on me

Ok so partner did make a stop at the near our home grocery store that was still open but it was past the lottery window hours
No matter - came back home and kid2 had made invisible apple cake (gΓ’teaux invisible aux pomme)
- 2nd one (1st one made last week when I wasn't here) and I got a slice!

Sweet times are still on!!

@SRDas thank you for all the vicarious noshing!
@SRDas slow down mate, you can't be cashing in all your kindness currency in one day!
(this was such a wonderful thread to read, kind things happening to kind people is the kind of news we need right now)

@SRDas

Unfortunately, you might have used up all your luck getting this bag... 🀣

@SRDas could it be that you look like the reliable and able-bodied sort of fella who would be able to help assist getting passengers off the plane in case of an emergency? I heard the emergency exit seats also come with that sort of semi-expectation lowkey wired in, wonder how much truth there is to it πŸ‘€
@pippa clearly you have not seen me irl
(Or let me disabuse you of what you heard about those seats)
@SRDas hah! i shall continue to believe it and assume that you have a Marvel Superhero build πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ Congratulations on the superior seat!
@pippa You may not be wrong on that. Ant man (at powers activated size) maybe
